guillaume henry designs for a girl who does real things that probably include having a job and running errands—not just going to parties (although she certainly does that too). full-bodied skirts and dramatic dresses are topped with cropped knits and worn with a slew of perfect throw-on outerwear. she’s a little eccentric too: gargoyle jacquard and exaggerated blow-out skirts mean that carven girl is intriguing even when she’s just walking to work.

Established: 1945 by Carmen de Tommaso
With a history of outfitting European royalty, the house of Carven has been a bastion of delicate luxury and expert design for over 60 years. Dedicated to an air of superior elegance—mixed with freedom and irreverence, too—the French label offers refined, adventurous mens and womenswear that allows its wearer's personal style to shine through. In 2009, Givenchy designer Guillaume Henry took the helm, helping Carven to reclaim its seat at the top. (But don't call it a comeback!)
