Hear Ye Hear Ye is the music based section of our blog in which we pick the brains of our favorite musicians and creative people. As well as divulging their most treasured albums, moments in music, and influences, each contributor elects their ten favorite albums to be the basis of our music selection for sale in all Opening Ceremony stores.

For our inaugural edition of Hear Ye Hear Ye, please welcome Thomas Mars of the band Phoenix. You probably first heard Phoenix on the Lost in Translation Soundtrack, but their history is well cultivated among the best of contemporary French music: before forming Phoenix, the boys worked with Air and Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk. Their fourth album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix debuted this week and is an OC favorite for its synth-blazed electro rock perfection. Check the store for all of Thomas' selection out now.

Opening Ceremony: What was the first album, cassette, CD, or iTunes song you purchased?
Thomas Mars: Sig Sig Sputnik - Love Missile F1-11

OC: What was the name of your first band and their first record?
TM: "Boxon" was the name of the band we started we were 10 years old. It's the French word for "mess".

OC: What was the first concert you attended?
TM: I saw Supertramp at Paris Bercy for the Cannonball Tour.

OC: What's your favorite band T-shirt?
TM: Mine is an Electric Light Orchestra shirt. Branco also loves David Bowie jewelry from Diamond Dogs.

OC: What is your favorite album cover?
TM: I love the Sig Sig Sputnik record covers. They are the main reason why I bought them as a kid. My favorite one is the Flaunt It cover.

OC: What song makes you dance?
TM: The Smiths - "This Charming Man"

OC: What song is your guilty pleasure?
TM: R. Kelly featuring T.I. and T-Pain - "I'm a Flirt"

OC: If you could meet any musician dead or alive, who would it be?
TM: Prince

OC: You prepared for the album in some great locations - a boat on the Seine, Géricault's old studio, a hotel rooms all over the world... what was your favorite location and what do you think it brought to the album?
TM: It brought very little but we had a great time! We always end up in very small closet-like studios to really get things done so it was nice to get some sun first.

OC: Word on the street is you're collaborating with Vampire Weekend on a remix -- can you tell us a little about that?
TM: We are both so busy it's on stand-by for now...
