Some amazing shirts featured in Ripped
I remember being 13 years old and hearing Fugazi's 13 Songs...that was it, I was a goner.
Artist, musician, and vintage collector, Cesar Padilla was another kid who sold his soul to rock n' roll, being involved in the music scene that has greatly contributed to the history of music. Cesar grew up on the West Coast playing music and going to punk shows at infamous LA clubs like Stardust Ballroom and the Whiskey a Go Go. After seeing some of his favorite bands like Black Flag, X, and the Minute Men, it's only natural that Cesar was propelled into his current trade, as a collector of the most bad ass rock n' roll t-shirts of all time! Through his travels around the world, Cesar has amassed a collection of t-shirts and other vintage wares enviable to any lover of music and fashion.
I went to visit Cesar at his vintage space, Cherry, located in the Showplace Antiques Center (40 West 25th Street). It was all I could do to control myself around the incredible goods that Cesar has collected. Check out my highlights, and some amazing tees featured in his awesome new book, Ripped.
