It's a well-known fact that here at OC we take Fashion's Night Out pretty seriously. From our Voguin' FNO origins in 2009, to a Parisian flea market in 2010, and our Argentinean Carnaval last year, every event somehow seems to trump the year before. So, how did we top an appearance by Miss Piggy, circus games galore, and the flash mob dancers from 2011? With krazy Korean-inspired makeovers, on the spot customization of Keds sneakers and Havaiana flip-flops, some Korean BBQ chicken and spicy rice cakes, a load of cocktails, and the best darn karaoke stage in Manhattan! Everyone had a go: Humberto, of course, got the party started with a darling duet with Patrick, singing "One Sweet Day" by Mariah and Boyz II Men, followed by Carrie Imberman, who killed it with "Price" by U2. Sia went next with "Let's Hear it for the Boy," then Miguel with "Brown Eyed Girl," and Alexa Chung and Dev Hynes with a slammin' rendition of "Hot in Herre" by Nelly. Solange Knowles and Ed Droste closed the night with "My Boo" by Ghost Town DJs!
The evening began with a Q&A with Carol and Humberto, hosted by Spike Jonze, where fashion students and general OC addicts posed questions like, "How do you find your inspiration?" and "What's next for OC?" After this, the awesome threesome signed copies of our new book! Once the lobby cleared, Naomi Yasuda set up her nail salon, alongside the Face Stockholm and Aut Sauce hair teams where FNO-goers got their hair and make-up done K-Pop style. Over at the OC store in the Ace, folks shopped the Closet 2 Closet flea market, where hot ticket items included Carol Lim's Costume National handbag, Denise Ho's Jean Paul Gaultier dress, vintage furs from Olivia Kim's wardrobe, signed Rodarte T-shirts, and Humberto's vintage sweaters—each for $10. Also on display and available for purchase were prints made of artwork from the Opening Ceremony book. But here's what made the night even better: proceeds from the event went to Broome Street Academy! Happy FNO and happy fashion week, everyone!
