What do you get when two culinary hunks and a complete babe of a drinks expert join forces? You get Rita's bar and dining, the new face of American comfort food, perfectly potent margaritas, and good vibe eating in East London. Open 7pm till late above Birthdays, Jackson Boxer, Gabriel Pryce, and Missy Flynn have recently launched Rita’s Bar and Dining, much to the joy of London and OCers alike. These three know their stuff: Jackson also runs Brunswick House Cafe and Missy was previously found at Hawksmoor. But we wanted to be 100 percent certain of their skill so we put in some overtime and headed East straight after work. It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it.
We ate our way through their signature dish, the patty melt—a grilled minced steak with melted cheese and onion jam, sandwiched between rye bread. Say no more. Next up, we devoured some fish tacos, green chili mac 'n' cheese (so gooey and with a bit of a kick), buttermilk fried chicken rolls, and a side of mustard greens! Plates range between £4.00 and £8.00 and with portion sizes perfect for sharing, order generously! It tastes so damn good, you’ll want to try it all. Drinks you say? Of course! We indulged in a margarita (or two) to wash it all down. For those with a sweeter tooth, we’d recommend the hibiscus margarita for £6.50. The perfect spot to start or end your night.
