I bought my first pair of Dr. Martens in 1991 for the first Lolapolooza concert. I told my mom that I had to buy these 8-hole Docs because I would get trampled on at the concert if I didn't have them. They were the most expensive items I owned at the time, approximately $120 dollars from Hide Out on Melrose. I got the shoes and it started an addiction. By the time I entered college in 1993, I had over 8 pairs including purple 3-eyes, black 3-eyes with rainbow stitching, and the coveted navy with black stitching: super simple, super cool.
My first pair of Docs inspired this brand new collection of 3-eye Dr. Martens shoes that we created in collaboration with the legendary U.K. shoe manufacturer. Each shoe is limited edition, made in England, and based on a discontinued 1980s shoe silhouette that's the perfect balance between chunky and streamlined. The collection is the first in a series of upcoming Dr. Marten's for Opening Ceremony shoes, so stay tuned for more twists on the classic, and a special celebration on April 1, 2010 for Dr. Marten's 50 year anniversary. More info coming soon!
Leave a comment with your favorite Doc's story, description of a favorite pair, or other memory by Monday March 15th. We'll choose our favorite on Monday and send the winner a free pair in any color you like!
I remember when I bought my first pair of Doc's. Black + hightops! The classic boot for everything. I've owned them since high school and they're still with me! I have studded, worn out, colored them and THEY'VE SURVIVED! Giving them a more unique touch each year. Nothing better than Doc's to make your outfit complete!
I remember falling in love with Dr. Martens when I was in England for my study abroad semester. Unfortunately I ran out of money by the end of my time there so I couldn't purchase a pair!
Hopefully this contest will make up for my stupid financial mistake.

My high school boyfriend got me hooked on Docs... 1991 for me also. My first pair was the classic black boot... then I got a little more daring and opted for burgundy boots and a pair of shoes (can't recall color). Last year I asked my dad if he still had them in his basement but unfortunately they were pitched. Lesson learned... never throw away shoes/clothes if they are still wearable... fashion is indeed cyclical.
It took me until I was in my 30's to finally get my 1st pair of Doc's even though I had always loved them. My parent's could never have afforded them when I was a kid & I finally fell for a pair I saw in the mall & hunted them down online when I couldn't stop thinking about them. 14-eye woven eyelet fabric & leather. Tough & feminine all at once. What's not to love.
My preppy, high school crush invited me to his graduation party at the end of the year. When I got there with my friends, his mom made us all take off our shoes before coming in. Cue me sitting for 10 minutes unlacing 20-hole docs in front of his friends and family. I was mortified.

I never bought a pair of Doc Martins - always wanted to but couldn't muster up the money to purchase one, but my first encounter was a painful one. Laced to the kneecaps, a pair of Doc Martens smashed my right foot during an early Skeletonwitch concert after its owner leaped from the crowd (he was stage diving) and kissed my 15-year-old right foot. The adrenaline numbed the pain. One day I'll return the favor by purchasing myself a pair.
Sometime last year I saw Dr. Martens at a random store in Montreal and I thought "Oh My GAH, I need those!" Sadly I didnt have any money. By the time I got back home to Los Angeles I forgot about them. Then a month later, I really wanted a pair and I had enough to get it. So I looked high and low and couldnt find any. Finally I went on nordstrom.com and discovered that they started to carry Docs. I got super excited and got a pair in black. They arrived a week later and I wore them all winter time, I didnt care about the weather I just loved those shoes. I still have them and I still adore them. :)
The first time I ever hear of Doc Martens was way way way back in the late 80's. They were mentioned on my favoritest show of all time (at the time) The Young Ones. Obscure British comedy. I hold a fondness for them for that plug during my show.

I had my first pair of Doc's when I was about 6. I was a total tomboy, but my grandmother bought me the hightop black ones with the flowers. Even though they didn't really work with the rest of my look, I wore them all the time. I didn't get another pair until college, when my brother bought a pair of the hightop white ones for his junior prom, and i started wearing them with my dresses. I love the way the chunky shoes look with my girly dresses.

I got my 1st pair of Doc Marten's while I was working at Journey's. They were brown leather mary janes. I wore them everywhere for years!! One night, I went to a camp fire and accidently placed my feet too close to the fire. Needless to say, the rubber bottom of the right Doc Marten completely melted!! I was uninjured, but my brown leather mary jane was completely destroyed!!

Thinking back, I have no idea what I was thinking prancing around school with guyliner on (get it) and my patent neon green Docs I got 2nd hand from my "punk" highschool boyfriend. But if it wasn't for all the stare downs (and ups, and downs again) I got through all those teenage years with my dear Dr. Martens', I wouldn't be the person I am today. Not an overstatement either!
And to see the brand carrying on and making greater and greater stuff? I'm so excited. Dr. Marten's will always have a special place in my heart - and my shoe closet.

I remember buying my 1st pair of Black, 8 eye, Docs from Bogeys from Germany, in 1990. Well, at the time I was in the 8th grade & quite the goth/punk kid. I remember ordering them COD....so It took weeks for them to get to my house. So, by the time they arrived, I had saved enough cash to buy them!!! It was funny because I waited all day Saturday by the door!! It was such an awesome experience trying them on & wearing them to school the following Monday!!! Of course that started my new DM addiction, or shoe addiction. I had soo many pairs of DM'S before I discovered Miu Miu & Prada.....hahah!! Good times!!!

I used to have a pair of 8 eye purple Dr. Marten boots in 6th grade back in 1997. Then one day I left them overnight in my locker at middle school. In the morning I saw a "punk" guy wearing them. He broke into my locker and stole them. I never said anything because I sort of had a crush on him. But I still miss my boots. I replaced them with black 14 eye boots, green pointed maryjanes, leopard print 8 eye boots, and whatever I could find. They are very addicting.

I recall wearing some tall docs in gym class during middle school. I felt incredibly rebellious wearing them while doing lunges and biceps curls in our school's weight-room.
I've always had bad luck finding quality shoes as seen here: http://ragstoreverie.blogspot.com/2010/03/im-still-aliveand-in-desperate-need-of.html I now have tons of saved eBay searches, including one for Doc Martens. Haven't found an affordable (and clean) pair I liked yet. I don't remember when I first found out about Doc Martens but it wasn't too long ago and I remember thinking that they were ENORMOUS! "Ronald McDonald shoes", I think that's what The Cut blog called them...but I really like that style now. It's perfect for concert wear! I used to go to concerts at least once a week and I think a pair of Docs would really motivate me to hit the nearby concert venue again. :)
Getting kicked in the face with a pair of classic black boot Dr. Martens at a Cult in Living Color concert on a recruiting trip to Penn State. Explaining the black eye the next morning at breakfast to the coaches and my parents was priceless.

I fell in love wearing my first pair of Docs, however, my Mary Janes outlasted Lisa.
Flipping burgers at Wendy's allowed me to feed my Doc Marten addiction. I must have served thousands of fresh single cheese burgers in order to complete my rainbow of Doc Marten back in 1995. Though I no longer flip burgers for a living, those sexy navy blue docs pictured above look as fresh as the burgers I once served.

First of all, I have to say that I thank everyone who reads this for the patience for my bad English since I'm a Japanese. My first encounter with Dr.Marten's was when I was 18 years old and saw my older friend wearing a pair of them. When I first saw them, I didn't like it coz they looked feminine and, that's why I had not been interested in Dr. Marten's at all for long time. We had our own band. During my life in University, we played music for fun, but seriously. Since he is two years older than me, he had to graduate earlier and therefore we had to break up our band and be separate when I was senior.(He had 6 years program.) He was a drumer. Everytime he plays drums, he was leaving his Dr.Marten aside, taking them off to step the base drum. By the time we had to complete our band, I loved Dr. Marten's and looked for a pair which are diferent from the ones, but somehow couldn't find good one. It was because the ones that he had was so cool that it was difficult to find better ones than his. After we finished our final concert, and I just helped him to move out of his place. During the time I was helping, all of sudden, he asked me to have his favorite Dr. Marten's. He was like, "I want you to have it as our all memories that we shared in band". 3 years after his graduation, he got married and had a wedding ceremony. I went there wearing that Dr. Marten's that he gave me...
Well, this is my story of my Dr. Marten's. Thank yo for reading!

Growing up in Leeds in the 80s, Doc Martens were but a distant dream. The kind of shoe on the kind of people that I admired from afar. I was 12 or 13 at the time and the kids who wore Docs were older and seemed infinitely wiser. I was convinced that they spoke another language--one that I was desperate to speak as well. I'd walk by the older kids who hung out in the square downtown. Too scared to introduce myself, I'd put on my walkman headphones and turn the music up as loud as I could to the Stone Roses or Jesus and Mary Chain, hoping that they'd hear and somehow recognize something special in me.
A friend of a friend procured a pair of cherry red Docs and I remember sneaking into her closet to try them on. They were about two sizes too big and looked even more clumsy on my skinny skinny legs. But i still remember the feeling I got when I looked into the mirror that night. I'm pretty sure I haven't looked so good since, or felt so powerful again.

When I was in my first year of college, I saw a girl wearing Dr. Martens, and she was passing out flyers about her club. I do not remember her clubs name, but I do remember her flyers getting rejected by people passing by her. The whole time she had a smile on her face, and she kept on passing out flyers. As I passed by her, she handed me a flyer and we had a good conversation about her club. I kept thinking to myself that girl was tough to put up with all that rejection.
My next year in college, I was in her same position and I had to pass out flyers. I was too getting rejected by people, and then I look over to see the same girl passing out flyers with her Dr. Martens. I then thought maybe it was her boots that made her tough, so I went to buy a pair myself.
Now, I feel like a tough girl and the rejection that happens does not stop me.
My first pair of Doc's. What can I say? They are still very much in my life. They are basic black, they have a special spot in my closet, and they adorn my feet until this very day! They are SO special to me because I bought them as a gift to myself after the birth of my daughter in 1992! I remember walking all over the Village in them as she grew from infant to toddler to little girl to young adult. They walked her to "Mommy and Me", to her first day of school, to the park, and I'm sure they will walk her to her first day at NYU in September, 2010! Just like the Beatles and Dylan, they are part of the story of my life, and they will remain so! Love my trusty old Doc's! I'd love a wonderful new pair! Yours are SO cool! I would so love to own a pair. But, should I be so lucky, don't worry. My black Doc's will still be in that special place. NEVER gonna give them up!!

What a British design classic! In school in England we had to wear uniform so the only why to express your individuality was to punk up you Dr Martens. My first pair were the oh so cute mary janes and then as I progressed into a rebel teenager it was the steel toe caps 18 holes. I graffitti's them added hemp laces and beads and wore and wore them. Now in my 30's they feel so right again. This time I'll be wearing white ones with black laces with Alexander Wang sweat shorts, my stripey t and a shearling cropped bomber jacket (in my dreams it would be one from burberry AW10!). What a perfect outfit for a cold spring day in Stockholm. x
I used to wear 6-hole Docs with my uniform in elementary and I felt like I was the coolest kid in school. I remember wearing them year after year and they just don't seem to get old.
Fast forward to the last NY Fashion week, I was wearing my pointy zip-front Dr. Martens (women's!) in front of the tents at Bryant Park and two ladies who said they were from Vanity Fair took a photo of my boots. I didn't expect that photo to make the cut, heck, I wasn't even sure they were really from Vanity Fair! But a few weeks later, a friend told me my Docs were up on the Vanity Fair site: http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2010/02/the-shoe-will-go-on.html (scroll to photo # 3)! I was so thrilled I called my mother.
From the hallowed halls of my elementary school in the Philippines to the slushy sidewalks of Bryant Park at NY Fashion week, my Dr. Martens have taken me places!
i grew up in a sleepy college town, hacky sack and the dead were idols to everyone i saw on street. hippies ruled in my town. In my 8th grade math class, i looked to my right to see an image of beauty.. it was.. Gabe. He had a freshly shaved mohawk, and on his patchwork zippered pants were blue ink scribbles to the likes of "the clash, the makers, the misfits". scroll down.. and on his tiny 8th grade feet, the freshest pair of doc marten boots.. i've never seen anything like them. I spent the next 2 years trying to get Gabe to be mine, and i'll never forget the first step... running home begging my parents to take me to get my first pair of doc martens. they were mary janes!!

My grandmother used to support my Doc Marten's addiction in Jr. High and high school. She is a total fashionista and is majorly obsessed with YSL so she was all to happy with my interest in shoes. Every time I see Doc's I am instantly reminded of shopping for school clothes with my beautiful, stylish grandmother. :)
Doc's hold a special place in my heart. In 8th grade, only the weirdos wore them. I continued to rock the Doc's into high school. Doc's were the best shoes to wear to concerts and in the pit. Kept yr feet safe from getting stomped. I remember wearing them to see the Mighty Mighty bosstones in cleveland in the early 90s. Got searched going into the show (always skins vs sharps fights back then) and had to give up my studded belt and chain wallet. It was the 90's so my pants were pretty big, had to use caution tape for my belt and chain wallet! But that didn't stop me from having fun in the pit and stage diving!

I bought my first pair of Dr. Martens in the middle of my awkward high school years, right after I had emerged from a misguided skate punk phase. I had begged my mom to buy me a pair of black 8 eyes however she stipulated that I had to get them two sizes too big ("You'll grow into them!"). I loved the shoes and even bought some brightly-colored laces to dress them up. I wore the boots to school the next day, pairing them with a scratchy wool skirt I had found at a thrift store and a too-big jean jacket covered in punk band pins. Unfortunately, my new-found look didn't go over well at my school, where my classmates noticed that my large shoes highlighted my bony legs, earning me two new nicknames: Frankenstein Freak and Chicken Legs.
Getting mocked by my classmates didn't dissuade me from my love of Docs and I continue to buy them to this day. My collection has expanded to a floral pair of 8 eyes, a black patent leather heeled version, a white pair of 8 eyes with red and black laces and a scuffed 14 eye pair. However, I never grew into that first pair of 8 eyes.

During my middle and high school years my mother let me indulge in every single one of my punk rock yearnings except for the purchase of the 8-eye black Dr. Martens I so desperately coveted. Deemed too expensive and too harsh, my mother let me buy a more affordable pair of chunky soled, black mary janes with a white cat face stitched onto the toe cap as consolation. She thought the cat face was "too cute." However, now that I am in college and no longer have to have my style choices critiqued by my mother on a daily basis I have finally acquired my first and only pair of Docs, an 8-eye beauty covered in metallic gunmetal faux-snakeskin, thanks to the local secondhand store. I'm pretty sure though that even without a cat face, these new 3-eyes for OC would be mom-approved.

i'm a total recovered docs addict! i finally gave up the ghost and donated my high school favorites (black haircell 14-i's) to the thrift store, just knowing it'd make some young punk's day when they found them... only to find another pair at another thrift store a few weeks later. they fit better and i cut them down to the perfect height, and i have worn them every single day since moving to new york. they've saved my life by keeping me from slipping in the snow!
I'm a definite recovered Docs addict... I finally surrendered my pair from high school a few years ago. I gave them up to a thrift store, knowing they'd make some young punk's day. My thrift-store karma came full circle 'cause I actually found a pair that fit right at a different thrift store a few weeks later, and custom-cut them down to a perfect height. They're the ultimate boots, I've worn them every day this winter since moving to Brooklyn and haven't slipped on the frozen sidewalks once!
i never bought a pair of doc martens, they were handed down to me by my father when i was like 12 caused i need shoes for the snow. i think he's had them since he was like 25. they're real old and gross and beat up, but feel so comfy (not so much now). they were definitely broken in well before they were given to me. i remember wearing them everywhere especially at school which was catholic and strict and boots weren't allowed...detention!! i wore those mother$%#@# out.

i remember wearing my doc martens in the summer of 91 going out clubbing in the city the red zone on 54th street ahhh the good old days!!!
I was a young'n when Docs first hit the scene in the early 90s. My brothers were both in college and brought the grunge look back to our small town. I became enamored with the style and found myself a nice black pair with yellow stitching. Paired with my flannel and thermal shirts, the shoes transported me to another place. I soon found a new strut in my step.
A few weeks later, I found a Dr Martens cd sampler (the music they played in the stores). I quickly purchased it and hurried home to listen to all that I was missing in my small town. "Butter" by Mona Lisa quickly became one of my favorite songs. Not only did the shoes turn me on to a new style entirely, they actually changed my music taste! Much love for Docs.

I once had a pair of doc sandals when I was in highschool. I wore them to a party. The police showed up. As I was running to catch the get-away mini van, I lost one of my doc's in the middle of the street. I went back the next day to see if it was there. And it was gone. Apparently someone thought it was such a cool shoe, that they thought one doc was better than none at all. That was my one and only pair.): It was a sad sad day.

It was the early 90s. I was in high school and obsessed about being the first to have everything! I wanted a pair of Doc Martens so bad! But it was my sister who beat me to it. She asked her godmother to buy one for her while the latter was in Europe for holiday. And hers were exactly like the ones above! 3 eyes (in black nubuck)! When the shoes arrived, we couldn't stop fawning over them! How we loved it!
I never got my own pair, but she was kind enough to let me borrow hers as much as I wanted. I will always have fond memories of Docs. Strong, sturdy shoes that went so well with everything I owned. Plus the fact that it was my sister who owned the shoes, and was generous enough to share her Docs with me.
i was 9 years old, attending catholic school and was very shy and recluse. there was an event coming up with a lip sync contest. my older "punk" brother convinced me to participate. ha! tears for fears -mad world is what i picked. i would wear his oversized trench coat and put my feet in his black docs and practice over and over. he helped me get dressed for it. he thrifted a tiny black trench, faded levis, white hanes t and black combat boots! i was sad they weren't docs, but my feet were too tiny to fit into docs. he helped pin my hair into a mohawk and took me to the event on the bus as my knees shook. no one had ever heard the song before, but i ended up winning!

In high school a friend of mine got a pair of green Doc's. I was totally envious and totally impressed by how cool she looked, at least in my eyes. Her boyfriend was less impressed. They were the 14 eyelet style and, apparently, hell to break in. One day shortly after getting them, while walking around the neighborhood, she was complaining about how much her feet hurt. Her boyfriend had had enough and broke up with her on the spot.
Didn't stop my admiration. This past winter I finally managed to track down a pair of the black floral ones in my size. I've worn them nearly every day since. And I think they're really quite comfortable!
This passed November was when I got my first pair! I always wanted a pair when I was in middle school, but never was able to get them! So years later, I decided it's what I want for my birthday from my boyfriend. I actually had to talk him into it because he said they were ugly and I would look like GI Jane :( I stuck it out and made him get me them. I love them so much. He bought me the 8 hole in black. They are a tough and very comfortable after the first couple wears. I wear them pretty often even though I get joked on by the man. Now I really am thinking about getting the 8 hole flower printed ones.
In 7th grade, I discovered a pair of silver and green VELVET high top Docs at the mall, which was an hour and a half drive from my house, and decided I had to have them. Over the next month, my best friend and I held garage sales at our parents' houses every weekend, and I somehow ended up earning enough money to buy them. (I'm not even sure what I sold.) All that hard work for a pair of boots that didn't go with anything and made my feet look huge, but for some reason, it was worth it!
Truth is, Docs will always remind me of punk rock, mod, and growing up. They have been able to conjure a certain nostalgia for youth and adrenaline while still remaining supportive of their own function. They have experienced crazy New York snow, hours of jumping at shows, and just about every other element that you can imagine. They are essentially the most practical boots: comfortable, almost everything-proof, and badass. In terms of trends and popularity, they have remained part of culture, each time acquiring a different appropriation and meaning. The first and only docs I have was the result of a strategic purchase and they are the first and only pair I own. Beaten navy blue leather with endless layers of dust and paint, fibers of raw material from scratched leather wax, soles that keep me bouncing, and laces that have been beaten and dragged from long nights and hard working days. In the end it all comes down to how you wear them, but they will always exist as a product that allows for reminiscing good time and a serving epitome of combat.

OMG! i just saw this on FB - totally amazing! i have never owned anything like this - absolutely taken by the color and the seamless combination of the modernity and the heritage! and the shades .... just Wow! can't you just image that putting a pair of BF beat-up denim with cuff rolled up - paired with simple white tank from james perse and vintage grampa cardi .... thanks for the collaboration as such, brands, such as Dr. Marten can stay relevant to today's market! thank you, xoxo
94-95, I had black 8-hole Docs (of course!) and my crush had them in ox blood. He was so incredibly cute, he had that undershave and was also in my art class - S W O O N. We were crouching in the ditches out front of school, smoking and swapping boot laces with each other. My heart was pounding because this, like, meant something. Then he told me that he was a virgin and my heart burst. He was the cutest guy ever, a year ahead of me and he just told me he was a virgin while we were re-lacing our Docs. Best believe I preserved that lace in my boots all these years.

I can't get credit for the first pair of Doc's I ever wore and which now have become a favorite in my closet. I have to thank my older brother, he's 14 years older than I am and discovered Doc's long before I could choose what to wear. In the 90's, I remember seeing my brother wearing them and thought he was seriously the biggest badass in the world with a coolness factor that not even the power rangers could top off. This one time, when I was 8 or 9 we were walking home and he realized that 3 idiots were following us, he ignored them but told me to walk a little faster because he had a minor problem with one of them (I later found out that my brother had made out with one of the guy's girlfriend the night before, haha) so we get home, he tells me to get inside and that he was something to do. Five minutes later, my mom walks in asking for my brother and I answered with all the ease in the world: "He left to get in a fight with some guys... but don't worry! he's got his mean boots on" like if the Doc's would automatically keep him from getting his ass kicked, which I'm sure he did. Anyway we grew up, he's now 36, married, working and claims to wear only Italian shoes. But about 2 or 3 years ago I was going through some boxes in the basement and found his old pair of boots that are now perfectly beat up and that I wear often and somehow while wearing them, I do feel like got my back covered.

my dad has worked for los angeles county as a surveyor for over 20 years. he wears "doc martens" to work. he cleans them fastidiously and has had two pairs in my lifetime. we bought my first pair in The Alley in LA's garment district. they were stiff and too big for me. i hated them and tried to wear them out unsuccessfully. eventually i convinced my mom to buy me vans and that was it between me and dr. martens.
My favorite Doc memory/story just happened recently. I was at a thrift store in some god forsaken city killing time and low and behold....a brand new pair of maroon docs just sitting there. Waiting for me. In my size. And only $3!! I almost died. I have a few pairs of docs but for some reason...this $3 pair is by far my favorite. Maybe cause there was a bit of luck in my day when i found them. ;]
When I was 12 I went with a student ambassador program to London for a week. One day our group leader took us to Camden Sq. (I believe) and we had 2 hours to shop. I didn't have too much extra spending money on the trip but while we were walking around I came across the Doc Martin flagship store (which since I've been back, they have sadly closed). Being from Detroit, seeing giant more than one story stores was unheard of, and being a fan of late 80s/early 90s punk rock, it was the first time I had seen the boots that I had always seen in pictures in person for the first time.
I immediately bolted into the store and gazed around in awe. I couldn't believe all the different styles and sizes that they had. I couldn't contain myself. I ended up leaving with a pair of 8 eyelet oxblood boots. I wore them the entire rest of the trip, regardless that all the kids that were with me made fun of me, I felt like the coolest kid with them on.
11 years later I still wear them, luckily my feet haven't grown since then. You will never catch me leaving the house without my black or ox blood Docs on.
I remember my first pair of DM'S!! I found a pair of blk, 8 eyelets from the Bogey's (underground fashion) catalog. The year was 1990 and was in the 8th grade, with a passion for all things post-punk!! I ordered them C.O.D. which allowed me time to save for my first DM purchase. I missed the 1st day of delivery; so I waited all day saturday by door. When they arrived my heart leaped for joy, intoxicating was the smell of leather as I opened the box. So, ever since that day I've developed a serious shoe fetish.....Tx DM!!!

My love for Doc's has been a rocky one!
I HAD to buy my first pair of Dr.Martens in 1997 for my first day of Middle School. My school was this old historical building that required them because the Docs' famous air-cushioned sole that didn't mark the delicate, aged floors. Back then, my hate for the widespread 1461 black oxfords was intense. Not only did everyone at my school wear them, but they regularly got me in trouble. I, like many other schoolmates spent countless hours in detention for refusing to slip them on. After a while, I gave and caved in and discovered that Dr.Martens came in different styles. I very quickly changed to the high 1960 boot, which made me feel rebellious and edgy.
When school ended, I truly wanted nothing to do with Doc's. I quickly moved on to wearing nothing but sneakers or really anything that look different from a black Dr.Martens shoe for an entire summer. I was shocked when I arrived to college and saw all these attractive, interesting types wearing Dr. Martens! How could this be? These shoes that I was forced to wear, which I thought were a pain, were now cool? I realized that I had been blinded by my frustrated dislike. I had never taken the time to see that they were a staple in most of my musical hero's wardrobes. Most of British's punk rock and New Wave musicians sported them. I now saw what I refused to look at for so long!
I surely did not hesitate to wear them all throughout college, and in fact, I still do! Dr.Martens are classic, modern and rad. They are for everyone to wear and to feel good in. And that attitude what keeps them making the most interesting footwear on this land. I will never stop wearing them, they are now a staple in MY wardrobe. I can't do without them!

I was in college and i bought the black classic loafers and they were maybe $100-$125 and it seemed like a million dollars back then but I wore them literally everyday. I thought I was so cool!!! They best part was they lasted forever...the sad part was I lost them somewhere in between moves. I would love a new pair...just these great pics bring back so many awesome memories. xo

My family came to america in 1990 from the Ukraine. My mom started going to school to become a nurse, ended up studying abroad for a few months in England. In 1994- i was 10 years old at the time - my mom came back with a pair of size 38 black lace-up Doc Martin ankle boots. She wore them for a couple years, then my older sister wore them for a couple years... finally, when i was 14 years, i found them in my sisters closet and didn't take 'em off for the next four years...when i finally wore holes thru them (practically! also, i think i needed the size 39, but obviously didn't have a choice then). Anyway. my first, and only pair, was a that pair. i have thought about buying a pair ever since, but could never decide/afford them. So, either way, whether i get a pair from my story or not, i'm getting the smooth purple pair!

My Docs My Friends
To a gathering of friends I unveiled my brand new Doc Martens customised with exclusive hand painted Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers designs, mmmmm o how I love the smell of new...
Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas and Fat Freddy doing their thing all over my ace new Docs - looking amazing - these must be the best Docs they've ever seen.
Though thoroughly impressed, the general consensus was they looked too new - too what? - cue the engine rumble of the '69 Black Beetle, brand new Docs under each of the rear wheels, first gear forward - verdumpfff - then reverse gear backwards - verdumpfff - followed by a chorus of cheers as the new and now <i>scuffed</i> Doc Martens are held aloft.
Pats on backs and high fives follow 'Those are by far and away the best Doc Martens I've ever seen mate.'
'I know' I replied wide eyed , 'I told you that already'.
