JD Samson, lead singer of MEN, is definitely one of our favorite feminist icons. Contrary to common misconception, she's not the cute boy in a band you want to run away with but the original empress of electro-punk who still makes you swoon. Since the days of performing in queer dance punk sensation Le Tigre and smoldering in zebra-print pants, she's unraveled the social pressures of being a sexual minority whilst never stopping dancing. Tomorrow is JD's birthday and we salute our soul savior for always being herself.
