When Ari Marcopoulos walked around New York in Adam Kimmel x Carhartt's new collection earlier this year, people thought he was going to ticket them. What he was actually doing was shooting (and starring in) the collaboration's fall lookbook. But that's the power of a well-cut pair of forest-green pants or a smart black blazer finished with metal buttons. State troopers loomed large in Adam Kimmel's imagination this season and, true to the Carhartt's workwear roots, the fall pieces rework outdoorsy classics in street-ready shapes. So, just in at OC: broad-check flannel shirts, denim work coats with corduroy collars, and canvas bomber jackets. The fabrics are all traditional Carhartt performance wear, but the shapes are slimmer than in previous seasons. It's clothing for the state trooper who wants to go straight out to dinner after patrol.
