"This design was produced for various NFL football teams throughout the late 80s. The awesome 8-bit graphic is totally a product of the Nintendo generation. This is the Los Angeles Raiders edition: it's particulary special because of the large role gangster rap played in American pop culture in the late 80s, early 90s."

This Missoni Sport piece depicts discus throwers and shot put athletes—they’re really strong silhouettes. It reminds me of ancient Greek friezes and art, which ties in with the Olympics.  Missoni is a label that's well known for its use of abstract textile patterns, so this one is unusual. The athletes' number plates are replaced with the Missoni Sport logo.  "Neoprene is the biggest thing right now. This incredible Nautica color-blocked halter top could be worn on the streets of New York or surfing in Bali." "Donna Karan is one of those designers who influenced so many of her peers. I mean, you either loved her or were intimidated by her. Karan had such a powerful and ubiquitous presence in the 90s. Her DKNY collections were very well represented in music videos at that time."  "This swimsuit thong incorporates a photographic print of a city, obstructed by large blocks of color, including taxi cab yellow." "This is a really beautiful Hermès crewneck sweatshirt, with nautical embroidered graphics around the logo." "If you look closely at the sweatshirt, you’ll notice that it’s perforated: it’s a detail that you'd expect from a luxury brand like Hermès." "Adidas had some incredible graphics on sweatshirts, T-shirts, shorts, and tank tops. I really like the image of this gymnast, and the perfect score graphic is awesome. As serious as the subject of the pattern is, it's extremely playful." "This is an early 90s Polo Ralph Lauren cycling jersey. Again, the colors are so bold and the use of text is just stunning. The word "racing" is almost intimidating. The pockets are really cool because cyclists actually use them, they come in handy for storing water bottles and things like that. It’s also aerodynamic, that’s why the pockets are at the back." "I love these crazy Starter hats with space for your hair. These hats were made at a time when a lot of people were rocking flat tops. A lot of girls were wearing hats too, which is something that is happening all over again. You can wear this hat without ruining your flat top or your vertical ponytail." "Another gem is this vintage The North Face ski jacket. I love the color-blocking they were creating throughout the 80s." "Something amazing about this beautiful country is that there’s a perfect place to go skiing at any time of the year. And what better way to stand out than in a bright vintage ski jacket"

"This is a USA Dream Team, all-over print shirt from Magic Johnson's famous Magic Johnson T-shirt line."

"Magic Johnson was an amazing athlete and such a smart businessman—he has so many ventures!"

"This rare athletic romper by Junior Gaultier is an homage to a boxer's uniform. The patch on the center of the waistband references shorts made by boxing outfitters like Everlast."

"Even the lettering on the back is very similar to the Everlast logo." "What’s really interesting is that this piece also pictures various religious and mythological deities or icons. I'm not exactly sure what the designer was trying to communicate, but one thing is for sure, religion and mythology are as universal as sport and competition."

I enjoy digging for all the retro looks myself but still cannot afford much of it. Really like the looks though.
