Jungle Jap was the original concept, and one of the original names of the brand founded by Kenzo Takada in Paris in the 1970s; it was also the starting point for an amazing second menswear collection for SS13 by Carol and Humberto in Paris this past weekend.
Inspired by their recent trip to the jungles of Thailand and Indonesia, the collection featured eye-popping prints inspired by jungle camo, exotic animal patterns, and pop art. The collection was full of clever innovations, like a double bill baseball cap that looks like it's worn backwards and forwards at the same time, and bright, graphic, text-heavy "sleeves" layered under short-sleeve shirts, which Humberto told us were inspired by elephant trainers who wear more functional versions in the jungle to protect against harmful UV rays.
Overall the show blew us away, especially the surprise parkour performers who flipped their way onstage at the amazing judo stadium venue. Have a look at the photos from the show, and let us know which looks are your favorite for next year.
