West Goes East: Boy by Band of Outsiders Pre-Fall 2012
Plaid shirts with ruffled necks and corduroy pantsuits—Boy by Band's pre-Fall collection could only have come from one place: Manhattan! From the comfort of his California home, Scott Sternberg switched coasts this season thanks to his umpteenth rewatching of Woody Allen's 1979 classic. Taking his cue from Diane Keaton's tweedy blazers, tartans, and flares, but cropping a jacket here, and adding a zipper there, Scott presents a medley of remade 70s New York staples. The usual cast of Band characters are here: handkerchief skirts, boxy button-downs, and crewnecks cut just right, but with extra borrowed-from-my-college-boyfriend charm.
