Après-Sun Silks: Carven SS12
If Carven's new collection were a time and place it would be just before dinnertime in France in the summer—when everyone gathers after a day in the sun. Silk mini dresses are printed with stucco-like patterns or finished with traditional French lace. Jacquard shorts are short (for showing off tanned legs) and come in colors like sorbet flavors: lemon, tangerine, and strawberry. And raffia platform shoes have straw tops like the woven baskets you find at Sunday markets. Tapping into the crafts and folklore of the historic house's homeland, designer Guillaume Henry shows us that if the French know one thing, it's how to do les vacances.
