Ami's debut presentation summed up everything we love about the new Parisian brand. On a warm June evening, designer Alexandre Mattiussi found a picturesque Paris street, strung lights from the trees, and dressed his models in clothes that looked enviably undone but chic. They looked like a group of exceptionally well-dressed friends just having a drink and hanging out.
Alexandre's friends are in evidence everywhere in Ami. The designer calls on everything from the way they layer their sweaters to the length of their trousers. Full of lightweight cotton suiting and crisp voile shirts, the Spring/Summer 2012 collection combines Alexandre's pitch-perfect tailoring (he's fresh from designing menswear at Givenchy) with the nonchalant styling of a twenty-something Parisian, right down to the colorful worn-in boat shoes.
