"Brainstorm" "Brainwash" Malcolm and Daniel in front of one of their lookbook-inspired prints
DUOX4Larkin at Artists Space
Nail decal-covered cigarettes, Cheetos bags, WordArt, and DIS Magazine-like farcical visuals. DUOX4Larkin, a show by DUOX (Malcolm Lomax and Daniel Wickerham), is a material commentary on lifestyles, and that of the corporate office environment in particular. Set in the lofty Artists Space in Soho, the show incorporates corporate badges, office stationery, productivity fuel (spot the cappuccino foam printed onto CD-ROMs and energy drink containers) in its tabletop workstations.

Something of a 21st century re-evaluation of the worker and his identity (has it really been almost two centuries since Marx?!), Lomax and Wickerham's seemingly whimsical work is perhaps best explained by its accompanying booklet, which samples from Foucault-heavy theories to Rem Koolhaas' Junkspace, and the brilliant poetry of FuckYeahMenswear.

DUOX4Larkin is on view through March 18, 2012.

It looks like a show based on Ryan Trecartin's work and DIS.
Strangely enough, DUOX's work was very different last year.
