BEST MOVIE OF 2011 as chosen by Jason Schwartzman: "Midnight in Paris! Because it's the best!"

BEST ART EXHIBITION OF 2011 as chosen by OC arts contributor ALEXANDRE STIPANOVICH: "My favorite show this year was 'Sittin' on a Rainbow' by Wes Lang, at Chateau Marmont in LA. Firstly, because it was an homage to the legendary Martin Kipenperger's hotel drawings. Secondly, because Wes' drawings killed it with their immediate, sexy, and life-celebrating poetry. Thirdly, the show took place in Howard Hughes' infamous suite at the Chateau, overlooking Sunset Boulevard. Plus, the fact that it was a one-night-only exhibition made you want to deeply absord the moment. True poetry is the sesame to such magical places."

BEST LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE OF 2011 as chosen by artist and OC contributor ANDREW KUO: " James Blake at Le Poisson Rouge! It's always a thrill to see a performer play at the peak of their powers. He started off his set with a snappier, stripped down version of 'Unluck,' which was a song I had listened to maybe 78 times in the months beforehand. The dubbed out and extended 'Limit To Your Love' was one of those moments where a song I'd previously not enjoyed reinvented itself. Of course 'Lindesfarne' and 'I Never Learnt To Share' made me feel weird. I'll always think of my friends from this year when I hear those songs. Unfortunately, he didn't play 'Measurements.' That was sad."

BEST BOOK OF 2011 as chosen by Interview magazine editor and LIGHTNING PEOPLE author, CHRISTOPHER BOLLEN: "Pulphead by John Jeremiah Sullivan. This collection of magazine pieces by southern writer Sullivan is so sharp, arresting, and keenly perceptive. He is not only ensuring the future of essay writing as an art form, he’s redefining our sense of America while doing it...
...and The Great Frustration by Seth Fried. What can’t Seth Fried write about that will make me laugh hysterically? This book of stories should be read at night to adults who have stopped believing in gifted imaginations. "

BEST SKATE-RELATED YOUTUBE VIDEO OF 2011 as chosen by Spike Jonze. "Here are two inspiring guys."
___________________________________________________________ BEST STREET STYLE OF 2011 as chosen by Tommy Ton: "Hanne Gaby is crazy, young, and silly. She uses clothes like a little girl playing dress-up. She has fun with style—it's not the standard model-off-duty look. She's the ideal muse for a designer, wearing head-to-toe looks right after the shows, but adding her own quirky touch."

BEST HAIR MOMENT OF 2011 as chosen by OC resident hairstylist and hair columnist, SLOANE SERA: "The best moment for hair during 2011 is what happened during New York Fashion Week. The girls of Bleach London set up shop at Milk studios, making it the most colorful week of the year!"

MOST DIS-GUSTING MOMENT OF 2011 as chosen by the DIS MAGAZINE team: "Courtney Stodden's Twitter! From the ashes of common sense and human decency rose Courtney Stodden, the slithering, sensuous, sex-teen year old who married an old man and became the best manipulator of the paparazzi since Heidi Montag––and with her revelatory Twitter, the most alliterative innuendo innovator since Peter Piper pecked a prick."

BEST LADY GAGA LOOK OF 2011 as chosen by Nicola Formichetti: "I loved the Mugler leopard bodysuit she wore at the after party for my first Mugler show in Paris. We took the outfit straight off the runway, put her hair up, and styled it with the Mugler knee-high leather boots from 'Born This Way,' and a glass of champagne. Her date made the outfit even more glamorous—it was me, of course!"

BEST MEAL OF 2011 IN NYC as chosen by Momofuku chef DAVID CHANG: "Dinner at the bar at wd~50. wd~50 is still my favorite place to see what is fresh, new, and delicious. There are old dishes making their way back onto the menu, but revamped. Anyway, just go—it's one of the best in the world!"
