Firstly, because it was an homage to the legendary Martin Kipenperger's hotel drawings. Secondly, because Wes' drawings killed it with their immediate, sexy, and life-celebrating poetry. Thirdly, the show took place in Howard Hughes' infamous suite at the Chateau, overlooking Sunset Boulevard. Plus, the fact that it was a one-night-only exhibition made you want to deeply absord the moment. It's always a thrill to see a performer play at the peak of their powers. He started off his set with a snappier, stripped down version of 'Unluck,' which was a song I had listened to maybe 78 times in the months beforehand. The dubbed out and extended 'Limit To Your Love' was one of those moments where a song I'd previously not enjoyed reinvented itself. Of course 'Lindesfarne' and 'I Never Learnt To Share' made me feel weird. I'll always think of my friends from this year when I hear those songs. Unfortunately, he didn't play 'Measurements.'
