Member: Elin Book/Magazine:Vestiarium Scoticum by Nick Relph Published in: Brooklyn, NY Price: $50 Why it's so great: I love the history of the Vestiarium Scoticum (try saying that after a drink or two)! In a sense this book is a copy, of a copy, of a copy of an original Scottish tartan manuscript dating back to the 16th century. Two brothers, John Sobieski Stuart and Charles Edward Stuart, published the book in 1842 claiming that the tartans were taken from an original 16th century text that had been re-relased in 1721. The brothers claimed to be the decendants of Bonnie Prince Charles and linked the tartans to esteemed clans. In reality, the sneaky brothers had just crafted the tartans themselves. Fast forward to 2011 and UK artist Nick Relph has taken scans of the counterfeit tartans and printed them via risograph. It's undeniably a great book, the only question is, what color cover should I get?
