Coffin-shaped backpacks, patent platform sneakers from outer space, cone bras made of tiny witch hats, skateboards with attitude, suicidal hair dos and literally everything covered in mutant green slime... Welcome to "MALL WITCH," the SS12 collection by Gerlan Jeans.
Just days before the show, I met up with Gerlan in her Chinatown showroom to get the inside scoop on what she had in store for us. Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, Janet Jackson, Christina Ricci (Rhythm Nation and Addams Family era, of course!) were all present on her mood board – GENIUS!
Then the slime came out...
"I have a Ph.D. in SLIME," Gerlan explained. Slime shoes, tanks, and even a corseted dress fit for the Oscars. It’s a Nickelodeon dream (or nightmare) come true! Check out some photos from the show, backstage, and in the studio!
