Suno is a family affair. So much so that the brand’s first runway show last night felt like a home game, with Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis’s family and friends cheering from the front row. But there was more to this outing than nepotistic affection: the current CFDA finalists presented a fresh, stridently clear collection. From sweet florals to crisscrossing stripes and shockingly shimmery red, with stops in Peruvian embroidery and their much-loved ethnic prints, the genius of Suno is that the juxtaposition is never jarring (shout-out to superstylist Brian Molloy). Backstage after the show, Erin’s dad was tearing up with pride. We know the feeling, Mr. Beatty.
