Humberto and Carol by Jessica Repetto on a Band of Outsiders tote!
"I went to the Band of Outsiders thing at Fashion's Night Out and all I got was this friggin' awesome tote bag."
Jessica!
It's been surprise after surprise every day here on the blog as we continue to reveal our FNO-exclusive goodies. Joining our roster of super awesome, mercado-ready designers is Band of Outsiders' Scott Sternberg!
Scott's deal is always a package one, you see. (Remember this, his Cookie Monster T-shirt + melt-in-your-mouth Momofuku Milk Bar amazingness at last year's FNO?) This time around, the Band of Outsiders carnival booth might just take the cake – or cookie. At the stall, the fantastical illustrator Jessica Repetto will sketch simple portraitures on Band tote bags, which will come with a free Momofuku Mexican Wedding cookie created for that night only. We caught up with Jessica before the big night. And stay tuned for our interview with Momofuku's Christina Tosi!
Sofia Cavallo: We know you use watercolor and other supplies – but we can't resist asking. What's your favorite Crayola color?
Jessica Repetto: Robin's Egg Blue and Red Orange.
SC: FNO kicks off NYFW. What shows are you the most stoked to illustrate every Fashion Week, season after season?
JR: My favorite designers to illustrate have to be McQueen, Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, and Comme des Garçons.
SC: What's your favorite non-fashion-related thing to doodle?
JR: Re-interpreting artists' masterpieces.
SC: No illustration is complete without _____.
JR: Dirty hands.
SC: As you know, OC's FNO event this year is a 'mercado de carnaval.' You're known to have an eclectic wardrobe brimming with vintage and flea finds. What are your top favorite markets in the world?
JR: Paris' Les Puces, Milan's Via Fiori Chiari, New York's Annex Antiques Fair, London's Camden Passage and the Mercantic in Spain. Also, Santa Margherita Ligure for the fantastic antique shops and a small, no-name market on the weekend.
