From the Archives: Ryan McGinley Olympic Swimmers
by Daria Radlinski
Just in time for the holiday season, we’ve dug through the Opening Ceremony archives to find one of our favorite items from years past. Depicting the 2004 US Olympic Swim team, the photos featured in this series of postcards were shot by Ryan McGinley for a special edition of The New York Times Magazine, and resulted in one of the largest portfolios the Times has printed. Totally infatuated with the result, we couldn’t help but find a way to make this Olympic fare our own – and so came this limited run of 500 post card sets. Each box of cards contains 16 prints profiling athletes like Diana Munz, Jenny Thompson, and Ian Crocker, among portraits of before-they-were-stars Aaron Peirsol and Michael Phelps, who had their breakthrough in these very Athens 2004 games.

Under super limited quantity, we're excited to let go of our final stock of 15 out-of-print dead stock card collections to our loyal customers. Sold out worldwide, these cards are only available through Opening Ceremony Online.

Due to their archival status, some boxes feature minor flaws in packaging though cards remain in perfect condition.

Buy them here.
