Last Friday at Salon 94's Freeman Alley space, several artists gathered to read and share jokes. Dubbed "Club Nutz," it was the closing event for Scott Reeder's drawing show at ART SINCE THE SUMMER OF '69, the gallery run by Hanne Mugaas and Fabienne Stephan. Many artists – including Cory Arcangel, Emily Sundblad, Ross Moreno, Amy Yao – took the microphone on an improvised stage to read a text or share a joke, and Brian Bellott was the wildest master of ceremony I've ever seen.
Afterwards, many people gathered outside in the alley and the vibe was very chill and friendly. Unfortunately, this will be the last event at Art Since the Summer of '69, as they will close their space in August. Fabienne was not sad but actually happy; she told me that she and Hanne will keep the gallery alive in one way or another, and they already have an idea about how to do it. Stay tuned for that and check out the photos from the event, below.
