In anticipation of her new film, The Future, Miranda July created the Forgetting Napkin, a hand-painted, dinner napkin from The Standard Hotel, made with the intention of mending a broken heart. To WIN this magical creation, see Miranda's instructions below and email us at blog@openingceremony.us.
The Forgetting Napkin should be hung over a photograph of someone who has broken your heart. It is most useful in the early stages of letting go, before you are willing to take down their picture. It is a gentle first step, a shroud. It SHOULD NOT be used in the later stages, because it will actually have the reverse effect, acting as more of a monument.
If you feel you are the person who most needs the Forgetting Napkin, please email us, describing your situation in two sentences. Do not include names or pictures -- that stuff is private.
