Bites on a Budget is a toothsome and tasty series where members of the OC family forage for great food–under $10! For the second post, our intern Pardis' find: fresh and flavorful Asian food.
Before getting to Mooncake Foods, I had done my research and read that the Pan-Asian restaurant's specialty, the miso-glazed salmon, was the way to go--and I have to admit that everyone was right. It's flaky, flavorful, and pulls apart so immaculately that you can't stop eating. The salmon is grilled to perfection, with a subtle buttery flavor that doesn't detract from or overpower the fresh taste of the fish. Topped off with an incredible glaze and paired with the citrus-ginger house salad as well as your choice of brown or white rice, it's an irresistable combination that leaves you feeling full.
Connie, Laura, and Mercedes sampled from the various salads and soups on the menu and were equally as impressed with their selections. With every dish we picked coming in under ten dollars, this is a perfect place to find delicious bites on a budget!
