On a recent trip to the States, Tom of Pigalle hit up both east and west coasts -- and their respective OC locations, of course! I caught up with the PainOchoKolat member, whose fellow crew of Parisian cool kids runs the label and lifestyle.
Sofia Cavallo: What are your favorite spots in New York?
Tom Brunet: My favorite spot during this last trip was the new Jamaican restaurant Miss Lily's. The atmosphere is great thanks to the music (reggae, soul, hip-hop), decor, food, people and especially the waitresses -- beautiful, elegant, and sexy. Great combo! And I had a great time there with good friends. Other spots that I like are Opening Ceremony (always impressive), Lovely Day (so chill), Lil’ Frankies, Habana Outpost in Brooklyn, and Fort Greene Park.
SC: What do you miss the most about Paris when you're in New York?
TB: My friends. I wish our whole crew could share this New York energy. Hopefully we will throw a big Pigalle/PainOchoKolat party in New York sometime soon.
SC: What do you miss the most about New York when you're in Paris?
TB: Taxicabs. If you've ever been to Paris, you know what I mean.
SC: Have you found any good pains au chocolat in New York? You can say no.
TB: I don't want to try!
SC: Lastly, where does the name PainOchoKolat come from, does it have to do with the ritual of getting pains au chocolat after coming out of the club at 6:00 am?
TB: Of course it's one of the reasons! Pain au chocolat is so good before going to bed. Once you find a good place in New York and do just that, let us know!
