Fine Wine: Happy Birthday, Janet Jackson!
by Zachary Ching
Janet, Miss Jackson (if you're nasty) first captured my generation's attention in 1990 with "Rhythm Nation 1814." From that moment on, I was hooked. A Janet fan for life. In the 90s Janet ruled the world, releasing the legendary Janet album, then starring in the equally legendary John Singleton film Poetic Justice alongside Tupac Shakur.

Janet was the queen of tomboy looks and a full fledged sex symbol at the same time. She merged the two opposites seamlessly, from baggy jeans and floppy hats to skintight Navajo bra tops in the "If" video. If that was not enough, in '93 Janet blew the world's mind. With what, you ask? A pair of jeans and a pair of hands! The now iconic Rolling Stone cover forever cemented Janet's place in pop culture and our hearts.
