Hasta la vista, Carlos!
Saturday night, the exhibition 'Vernalis' opened at NORTH HENRY ANNEX, a new venue in Brooklyn resurrected by a neighborhood pastor. Featuring artwork by Aaron Frank, Benjamin Phelan, Brock Enright, Colin Hunt, Josh Kolbo, Julia Goldman, Per Billgren and OC worldwide COLLABORATOR and friend CARLOS CHARLIE PEREZ, the show was the first installment of a new series at the space.
North Henry Annex is a former residence that now has work installed throughout its three floors. The house looks like it's almost falling apart -- and it's super cool. There are holes exposing the house's wooden frame and ripped wallpaper revealing kitschy prints underneath. It's probably haunted!
The eight artists presented very diverse artworks: sculptures, light installations, prints, vintage photographs, a video... Carlos showed five pieces: two prints, wallpaper that recalls his MAD LIBS, and two very graphic rugs I wish I had in my apartment. His work interacts amazingly with the space and really makes getting a bit lost in Brooklyn worth it!
'Vernalis' runs through May 31st.
