If you thought the designer's hands were full with Boy. and Band of Outsiders, consider the ante upped! Presented last September before a room of admiring eyes–and now finally here–Scott Sternberg's excellently dreamy girl. by Band of Outsiders fills a logical gap in the Band family tree, offering a neo-waifish, unabashedly romantic outlook on American sportswear.

But, of course, the doe-eyed vibe doesn't come without a touch of deviance! With references that span the fresh (but fiery) faces of Mia Farrow as Rosemary, Kate Moss for 90s Calvin Klein, and a Days of Heaven-era Brooke Adams, Sternberg draws influence for Spring 2011 from a cast of cuties-with-complexity. (Which is, conveniently, how every girl on the Band wagon would likely describe herself!)

So, what are our favorites this season from all three lines? What did the SS11 presentation look like behind the scenes? Does Scott believe in 2012, the Tooth Fairy, and guardian angels? Find out below!

Congratulations on girl.! At what point did you realize Boy. would have a sibling?
Thanks. I knew pretty early on, as the idea with Boy. is to always stay tethered to menswear in some way–tailoring, fabric, shape, feeling, etc.–and that leaves a pretty gaping hole in the world of what women like to wear, and what I personally love, am curious about, and want to explore.

Now that you juggle three lines, we have to ask: what's your secret? Do you have a time-management guardian angel?
Nah – coconut water and diet pills.  

What does a typical day in the studio look like?
It totally depends. I get into the studio really, really early–as early as 5:30am some days–to have some quiet time before the troops roll in.  There's so much to do always–design and business stuff–so the day is about aligning my mood and focus to be productive at either.

If you absolutely had to change the name of the brand (let's blame hypothetical red tape/bureaucracy/copyright laws/etc.), what film title (French or otherwise) would be a close second to Band of Outsiders?
It's a tossup between Speed 2: Cruise Control or Apocalypto.  

If your name were an acronym (S.C.O.T.T.), what would it stand for?
Secret Covert Operative To the Tooth-fairy.

What can you tell us about the Band family for Spring/Summer 2012?
Nothing yet, silly.  We're showing Band Spring 12 in June at Pitti in Florence, so you'll see that about 3 months earlier than usual, but from a land far, far away. We'll show Boy and girl. Resort there, as well.

Speaking of, what are your thoughts on 2012?
The only thing that pops into my head right now is "extended vacation." 

Do you miss any elements of working in the entertainment industry?
Not really.  Nice people, but I was really bored.

Have you ever tried to break a world record?
Negative.
