While everybody was getting nuts at the Armory, I dropped by the OHWOW BOOK CLUB yesterday afternoon to check out their latest selections. OHWOW co-founder Aaron Bondaroff and artist Nicholas Farhi were there, half-chilling, half-working. A guy from The Village Vanguard jazz club popped in and talked about the jazz scene of today. He noted how every actual saxophonist is always compared to Charlie Parker, despite how original he might be. Aaron offered that the same frustrating cliché holds true with today's art scene: everyone wonders which artist is the next Andy Warhol, thereby ignoring true original emerging talent. After our discussion, they gave me an OHWOW tote bag and the new issue of the zine Fuck This Life.
