For those of you who don't know, Patrik Ervell's studio is right downstairs from Opening Ceremony Worldwide. One of the perks of being Patrik's neighbor is being privy to his castings, in which confused, nervous, beautiful boys wander around the building. So we definitely knew how good the talent was going to be in Patrik's first seated runway show. But pretty boys aside, Saturday's show blew us away (no pun intended) with a tight, transcendent presentation.
The set incorporated fans blowing upward toward a horizontally inclined parachute. The boys' hairstyles stretched toward the sky in major Twister style. The clothing mirrored this aerial theme, with streamlined, weightless materials like nylon contrasted with classic Patrik staples of Peter-Pan collared shirts and slim separates. Hoods abounded, as did baseball caps and backpacks. Jumpsuits, including one in leather, were standouts. The show was a an energizing rush, with a real feeling of youthfulness and excitement. A supercute Kirsten Dunst in customized Patrik Ervell showed that simple menswear can work just as well for the ladies.
