Bernhard Willhelm’s Fall 2009 collection makes it clear that the ever-wily designer’s love for Olympic panache is just as strong as ours. In a collection inspired by the styles donned by skiers at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Games come these sunglasses in collaboration with German eyewear brand Mykita. Considering themselves face couturiers, Mykita’s in-house production allows them to hand-perfect their designs: meaning supremely cut sheet metal for the frame and screwless hinges. With the ultra-mirrored lenses, the competition won’t even catch you watching.
Check out these vintage shots we found of the collaboration's inspiration, epic skier Franz Klammer, as well as the styles he influenced.
These glasses are really great! Rim attracts attention. So I want to examine them in detail, to touch them to feel their texture. I already have a pair of Oakley eyeglasses and I have great pleasure to have acquired these eye glasses.
