Lesley Arfin's Stuff I Love #3: Best of 2010
by Lesley Arfin
With 2011 just around the corner, Lesley gives a recap of her obsessions from the past year in this month's Stuff I Love!

Well, it's the last month of the year. 2010 has been insane for me. I broke up, fell in love, moved to LA, got new jobs, lost old jobs... just a lot. Here's a few things that I loved from the entire year.

1. Music. I got into tons of new good music this year, due in part to living in LA. There's some stuff I'm loving in New York as well (Hidden Fees, The Sundelles, Mike Bones, Sleigh Bells) but in LA I really sort of feel in love with everything that's going on out there musically. The band The Soft Pack (still my favorite new discovery) initially set this whole thing off and led me to discover bands that most people in their teens and twenties know, but I didn't. Up until this summer I was listening to the Rent soundtrack on repeat, but now I listen the following: Ariel Pink, White Shit, Tijuana Panthers, Grass Widow, Nodzzz, Dunes, Andrew Graham, White Fence, Teen Ink, Avi Buffalo,Best Coast, Abe Vigoda, Nodz, No Age, Kurt Vile, Beach House, and the Rent soundtrack.

2. My haircut. My hair had been really, really long for quite a few years and in September I cut most of it off. It had been bleached blonde on the ends since '05 (I started that) and I needed to hack all the blonde off. Here's a before and after picture. It felt great to do it. Thanks Tommy Gunns salon!

3. Delocated. This is actually the funniest show on TV. I have yet to see an episode of it where I don't laugh out loud and then talk about it the next day at the water cooler (I walk around with a water cooler and stop people on the street to talk about Delocated). Jon Glaser created this masterpiece of a show which is about a guy who's in the Witness Protection Program but also on a reality show. He wears a ski mask in every episode and yes, I went as him for Halloween. It's on Adult Swim and the 1st season is now on DVD.

4. Fred Perry everything: I got obsessed with looking like a cute skinhead girl and got this Fred Perry dress. I love wearing it with little white socks and Doc's (or Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony shoes, which I am eagerly awaiting).
