Before my tan fades completely, let me tell you about my recent fabulous Miami weekend… I flew south to join my brother, Tim Barber, in celebration of his first major US exhibition. The show, Untitled Photographs, opened November 13th at OHWOW's beautiful, cavernous gallery space.
Tim culled through 15 years of negatives to select the 40 final images, which he presented in minimal, glassless white frames. To the unbiased eye of a big sister, the resulting collection underscores the continuous wonderment that's driven Tim's interest in photography since his early teens. Portraits, landscapes, and still lives hang side by side. They are expertly composed but rarely orchestrated, often humorous, poetic reflections of the world in all its beautiful, mysterious absurdity.
My entire immediate family and friends from far and wide gathered for the opening and stayed to enjoy the epically relaxing Standard Miami beach -- a reinvented hotel / spa which overlooks Biscayne Bay and offers countless pleasant ways to get wet and chill out -- highly recommended.
If you're in Miami this week, drop by OHWOW! The exhibition runs through November 27.
