Rock me Wolfgang Amadeus

Looking to Paris for inspiration may not be the most novel idea, but when you have access to a boat on the Siene and a studio that once belonged to Théodore Géricault there's really no need to go elsewhere. So prior to laying down their tracks with Cassius' Philippe Zdar, that's exactly what the boys of Phoenix did. Hard work seems to have paid off as their highly anticipated follow up to 2006's It's Never Been Like That is destined to be the soundtrack at your summer stomping ground.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is fraught with tracks like "Lisztomania", "Girlfriend" and "1901", that are set with a krautrock undertone that makes your head bop like you're listening to the most sugary and infectious top 40 guilty pleasure - minus the guilt and two times the pleasure. Sandwiched between these tracks are more layered, ambient post punk cuts like "Love Like a Sunset" with heavy instrumentals that don't give you a chance to catch your breath. But what really makes tracks like these is the way Thomas Mars belts them with a sincerity thats at the same time gritty and precious. It's one of the bands best, and so far, one of the year's best too.

We love them, we know you do too, and we're giving you the goods you need to prove it. Be the first to order Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix from our website on May 26th and receive a signed poster from the band. We'll also be the first to carry the band's new tee as well complementary posters and stickers. If you can't wait till Tuesday then go have a pre-release listen -- it's playing on heavy rotation in all of our stores!
