At his Gavin Brown's Enterprises solo show, Rob Pruitt plays with the notions of branding and representation with works that have an immediate pop-happy appeal. One series in the show, 'Rob Pruitt's T-shirt Collection,' features silkscreened paintings with t-shirt forms in bright, matte colors. These are existing t-shirt patterns as well as Rob's fantasy Ts. The iconic graphics on the Ts latch on to something very instant and real in all of us: that iconic wave painting, Debbie Harry's kiss, the printed-on tuxedo. Opening Ceremony has momentously paired with the artist to exclusively produce four of the t-shirts featured in the painting collection: You are Mickey, Copulating Pandas, Malcolm McLaren, and Cocaine. We are so excited to present these very special Ts, which fulfill Rob's vision of making this art wearable for everyone. A true pop sensation.
