On Wednesday, I joined thousands of fans swooning to the tunes of beloved collective Arcade Fire at Madison Square Garden (including fellow OC-ers Humberto and Bettina). Thanks to director Terry Gilliam - the man behind Monty Python and Brazil - Youtube viewers could tune in to a live webcast of the evening. The interactivity multiplied onstage, with video clips of freeways, moving cars, faces, and clouds projected above the crowd. For once, jaded New Yorkers cast coolness to the wind, singing along and clapping to songs both old and new. The palpable energy reached a hilt when the band threw instruments into the crowd, with a drum stick even reaching Humberto! And how perfect does band member Owen Pallett look in his orchid-printed Christopher Kane tee from OC?
